Journaling

Pens and Stationery items are basically tools. While I collect pens, I also use them. Thus, I am not a collector who simply treat my pens as precious polished artefacts, only to be displayed behind glass doors. To me, they are items to be admired and respected, especially pens with good designs such as intricate maki-e artwork etc. But more importantly, they are also meant to be used.

And in using them, scratches and dings are almost always likely to occur. To reduce such "damages", I babied my pens when carrying them out and about for work and during my travels. Yet, I still cannot avoid inadvertently "introducing" minor scratches, dings as well as other signs of usage to my pens. I have since come to embrace the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi. To appreciate the imperfections and patina that come with the passage of time and usage. Nothing in this world is perfect. So why should I expect my writing tools to be perfect, especially after months and years of use?

I enjoy using my pens. For journaling, writing, taking notes, doodling and more. I am sure if they have thoughts of their own, my pens will also enjoy being out and about with me in my daily life and being used as they are designed to be, to write. πŸ–‹
